Collagen Cross-Linked NTx: It's in Your Bones

Measuring N-telopeptide (NTx), a protein fragment found in bone collagen provides information about bone breakdown and turnover. Levels increase in the blood and urine when the bone is being actively broken down, indicating an increased risk of osteoporosis.

Estrogen helps reduce bone breakdown and reduce the release of NTx from the bone during menopause.
