Why is the Blood Chem Software better and more affordable than a downloadable software?

Our Blood Chem Software is an SaaS (Software as a Service) solution, with no software to download and learn. You can start using the Blood Chem Software as soon as you sign up as there is practically zero learning curve.

Unlike traditional downloadable software, the Blood Chem Software is a fully hosted, powerfully simple solution with advanced features and premium benefits:

Affordable pricing: The Blood Chem Software offers a flexible and affordable pricing model, which suits the needs of most health care practitioners and clinics. Downloadable software of this caliber would have a stock pricing model, which is out of the reach of most health care practitioners and clinics.

Full data backup: Your data is securely hosted on our servers with full backup and instant recovery. With downloadable software, you need to create your own data back up and there is always the danger of data loss in case of an accident or hardware corruption.

Short update cycle: With downloadable software, upgrades are few and far between as there is a long upgrade cycle. The Blood Chem Software allows for instantaneous upgrades when they become available, so that you get the most up to date software.

Zero infrastructure costs: Unlike downloaded software, for which you require in-house hosting solutions, the Blood Chem Software comes as software as a service, so there’s no requirement for any hardware or infrastructure, at your end

Anytime anywhere access: As long as you have an active Internet connection, you can access the Blood Chem Software from anywhere and at anytime. With downloadable software, this is not possible.

No maintenance costs: You need to maintain the downloaded software by yourself or an IT team. With the Blood Chem Software, there are no additional charges for maintenance and we regularly conduct system maintenance so that you get a fast and reliable service.

Cross Device Compatibility: The Blood Chem Software runs across all kinds of mobile devices and platforms such as iPad, iPhone, Android, Mac and more. Downloaded software, may not run on mobile devices and can be incompatible with certain platforms such as Mac, Linux etc.

No installation fee: With the Blood Chem Software there is no installation fee or set-up cost. Proprietary software may charge extra for setting up the software for you.

Simple and easy: The Blood Chem Software is simple and easy tool to use with an almost zero learning curve. All you need is a web browser and Internet connection. Proprietary software can take you days if not weeks for installation and set up, whereas a SaaS solution like the Blood Chem Software can be used from day one as soon as you sign up.

Who can use the software?

You must be a certified or licensed practitioner to use the software. Upon signup you will be asked to agree to a terms of use and provide us with verification, if asked, that you are a licensed / authorized healthcare professional currently licensed in each applicable jurisdiction that you practice in. We will then review your application and upon acceptance open your account.

Is the software capable of importing lab results directly from the lab rather than relying on manual entry?

We currently have this functionality with members of Evexia Diagnostics, Empire City Lab and Ulta Lab Tests. Once a lab test comes back to one of these lab companies, our system securely communicates with their system to import the lab values directly into the software without needing to do manual entry. We are looking to expand this functionality in the future to include more lab companies.

Can the software create reports from any lab tests or does it need an exact set?

The software creates reports based on whatever test results you enter from the lab results you get back from the particular lab you are using e.g. Labcorp or Quest. There are no preset panels that need to be run in order to enter into the software. The software is set up to accept results for over 80 individual biomarkers plus the software will calculate 8 or more powerful Functional Medicine Ratios for you. The more results you enter into the system the better job the software does with creating probability based results.

Please CLICK HERE to view a list of all the biomarkers that are built into the software.

Is there a contract for a specified period of time, and is the subscription price likely to change significantly over time?

We do not have a long-term contract for becoming a user of our software. We offer a no-contract monthly subscription service. If you want to stop your subscription simply email us at and let us know you want to stop your subscription. You’ll continue to have access up to the date of your renewal. After that, you will no longer have access.

Can I upgrade from a lower plan to a higher plan?

Absolutely. Drop us an email to and let us know you want to upgrade your account. We will then change your subscription and your software account to that level. We usually do this the day we get the request but sometimes it will be done the next business day i.e. we don’t work weekend!

What do you mean by “Enter Unlimited Lab Tests”?

We understand that many practices run a lot of blood tests each month and may also have historical blood test data on their patients that they’d like to put into the system, so we decided to make all our plans “Unlimited”. What does this mean? With all our plans you get to enter UNLIMITED LAB TESTS into the system. Basically a “lab test” constitutes the results you get back from a lab, not the individual biomarkers themselves! Once you enter the data from that lab test into the system and press save, it counts as 1 lab test in the system. With all our plans, you can enter as many lab tests into the system as you want.

Does your software provide nutrition supplements recommendation?

Yes. The great thing about our software is we are independent from supplement companies so we can provide protocols and recommendations from multiple companies. At this time we have protocols from Metagenics, Biotics Research, Designs for Health, Xymogen, NuMedica, Orthomolecular, Standard Process, Cytoplan, Premier Research Labs, Moss Nutrition and Apex Energetics. We have 2 supplement driven reports: a Health Improvement Plan that lists all the products recommended for the top 8 clinical dysfunctions, deficiencies and conditions giving name, dosage and product description and a shorter Product Summary Report that lists the individual products in a table format that the patient can easily post on their fridge.

Can I re-order Biomarkers in the lab templates in the software to match the order I get on my lab results?

Absolutely. We have set it up so that you can not only re-order lab templates to match the biomarker order on the original lab but also so you can create unique and specific new templates to match popular panels you might run.

Can you add amino acids and fatty acid tests? Can I add results from the VAP tests? What about urine dipstick analysis?

The software currently has over 100 individual biomarkers and we add to that list all the time. We are very open to suggestions as to which additional elements to add to the software. Our Blood Chemistry Software is set to do a Functional Analysis of the standard Chemistry Screen and CBC/Hematology test plus a few common elements. We want to keep it simple and easy to use so at this time we have no plans on adding urinalysis or amino acid testing. Given the popularity of advanced lipid fractionation testing, we do plan on adding that to the software. If you have biomarkers you want to see in the software then please consider helping us out by gathering important data. Please email us at to let us know your interest and we can send you a detailed document we use to gather important biomarker data.

Can this software work on both PC’s and Apple computers?

The software is run off the web so will work with any computer that has access to the internet regardless of the device you are using.

Can you use this program on an ipad?

Yes. You can access the software through safari on your iPad but at present there is no custom app for the ipad or android devices. Our programmer will be working on that very soon.

Can the software show comparisons over time?

Absolutely. We feel that it ‘s essential that you have the ability to look at change over time, which is why we have a historical report that shows the last 7 lab tests next to one another for comparison. This greatly increases compliance and many practitioners have said that it makes it easier to have patients repeat tests because they are keen to see how their values have changed. On our Functional Blood Test Comparative report, we list the latest test and the last test next to one another so you can quickly see a change from the time of the last test to the present test in the system.

Is there a list of the tests that can be interpreted by the software?

Yes. Please CLICK HERE to view a list of all the biomarkers that are built into the software.

Is there an area in your software where we can enter patient history and other patient facts, i.e. exam etc.?

Not at this point. We are working on our next software project: “Functional Signs and Symptoms Analysis”. I have started work on this next project that will give you the opportunity to give your patients a comprehensive Health Appraisal Questionnaire and have the results analyzed and a complete report generated. We are working on ways to have this as either a stand-alone product or integrated with your blood chem software account. With the integration, you’ll be able to see the results of the questionnaire side by side with the blood test results. I am so excited to get to work on this and hope you are too!

I’m from outside the US and my labs are using different units and reference ranges? Can I use the software?

Absolutely. There is no need to convert Standard International units (the units used by every lab outside of the US) into US units to use this software! This is the only software that we are aware of that is 100% useable by practitioners from all over the world. US practitioners use the software in US unit mode while practitioners from Canada, New Zealand, Australia, etc. can input data in Standard International units, the units that come on their tests.

Do you offer any kind of functional blood chemistry training program?

Yes. Dr. Weatherby offers his “FBCA Mastery Certification Training Program” annually in the fall.  This program isn’t just the usual “training” but a “MASTERY COURSE” in all aspects of Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis complete with testing and certification! We open enrollment in the Fall. Please CLICK HERE to get on the waiting list so we can keep you updated on the next registration!

Do you provide any type of training to teach us how to get them most out of the software?

Yes, we have a mini e-mail and video based training. You’ll receive an email from us directing you to a short video that showcases some aspect of the software: entering patient data, creating custom profiles, how to use the reminder system, entering data into the system, the report center, how to read the reports, how to communicate the reports to your patients, etc.

How do we add new lab tests to a pre-existing panel? Tests that are not in your system like Lipoprotein.

Currently the software system is set with a pre-determined series of biomarkers, which are the most common on a blood chemistry and CBC test. Lipoproteins are not currently in the system. We have a “Practitioner’s Notes” section that allows you to write in notes on tests that are not currently in the software program. You can then choose to make these notes available to the patient in the printed report or not. We are adding new biomarkers into the software and you will need to add those biomarkers to your lab profiles that you have created within the software. Once the new biomarker has been added to your profiles, you can start inputting data on those biomarkers.

Will you ever have pay-as-you-go plans?

No. We are dedicated to the subscription model.

Do I need to install the software onto my computer?

No. Since the software is web based, there’s nothing to install AND when a new feature is released you get it automatically. No upgrade prices!

I'm in the United Kingdom? Can I sign up with the US based software program?

The short answer to that question is no. Practitioners from the UK will not be able to set up an account with the US based software because we have a licensing agreement with a UK based company called Functional Dx. Functional Dx not only provide access to the software reports but also very competitive pricing for blood testing services. if you practice in the UK or Europe please contact Functional Dx for more information on how to begin utilizing the software in your practices.
