Why Laboratory Reference Ranges May Differ

Written by ODX Research | Feb 7, 2023 8:21:04 PM

If you look at your blood chemistry results from different labs, you may see that the conventional or standard reference ranges can vary from company to company.

These differences can be due to variations in methodology, equipment, or even the health of the population in the area where the reference ranges are established.  A reference group of at least 120 individuals is used to establish conventional reference ranges. However, individuals that fall within the middle 95% of results may not necessarily be healthy even though their results are deemed "normal."

Evaluating results within a framework of Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis and optimal ranges can help identify early changes in biochemistry and physiology that may reflect dysfunction now or increased risk of disease down the road.
