Supplements can Support Your Gallbladder

Gallbladder problems often occur when bile flow is blocked, a condition known as cholestasis. This can be caused by gallstones, which are small clumps of cholesterol or bile pigments. Gallstones can lead to pain, inflammation, or even serious issues like gallbladder rupture or cancer.

Factors such as age, being female, obesity, rapid weight loss, low-fiber diets, high sugar intake, and low vitamin C levels can increase the risk of gallstones. Surgery to remove the gallbladder is a common treatment option, but maintaining a healthy diet, a normal weight, and taking certain supplements may help prevent the formation of gallstones.

Vitamin C supports bile production and may reduce the risk of gallstones. Bile salts, such as ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) and chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA), help dissolve gallstones and are especially useful for people who are losing weight quickly.

Omega-3 fatty acids can improve gallbladder function and may help prevent stone formation during weight loss. Natural supplements, such as Rowachol® and A-F Betafood® may relieve gallbladder pain and enhance certain aspects of gallbladder function.

Adequate intake of copper, vitamin B6, niacin, vitamin E, magnesium, vitamin C, iron, and lecithin may also help prevent the formation of gallstones.
